"She's an excellent traveller so we'll bring her back home and give her some time to get over a long campaign."

Baldwin said Demanding Miss, Shamillion and Paris Blu had combined for almost $500,000 in prizemoney, ensuring the trio would qualify for the Magic Millions race.

Weekend wrap after Eagle Farm double

Mr Light Blue has gone to the spelling paddock after his victory at Eagle Farm on January 14.

Forty minutes after Gold Shears won in promising style, Barry Baldwin had another winner - albeit in a different style to his four-year-old mare.

Mr Light Blue was awarded the race after Gold Rating's jockey Patrick Keane weighed in light following a slogging duel down the Eagle Farm straight.

"It was the right result because, if that horse had carried the right weight, I'm certain we would have beaten him," Baldwin said.

"In a way, that makes up for the no race three weeks earlier when I felt Mr Light Blue had that race in his keeping."

Mr Light Blue will return to work after a brief spell with the Toowoomba Cup among his targets.

Baldwin said Gold Shears continued to impress him after she clocked up her second Saturday metropolitan win.

"She just keeps improving," he said. "She's a little bulldog because she only weighs about 430kg.

"And she showed on Saturday that she doesn't need a wet track to show us her best. We'll have a look at more races for her and I suspect she'll get over more ground.

"But she's not a horse that can back-up so we'll space her runs."

The deluge that has hit southeast Queensland has tested the patience of trainers.

Barry Baldwin has praised his staff for the work they have done with horses despite being drenched around the stables.

"They do a great job because we don't have a barn-style set-up - if they're not in the boxes with the horses they're out getting wet," Baldwin said.

"It does make it harder all round to get horses worked and ridden but we've been able to keep up pretty well this week. One of the main things is to watch the horses' legs to ensure they're ok.

"I'm really looking forward to the new stables at Eagle Farm. It will make wet days so much easier. The designs look great and they will be much welcomed."
